Linderhof Palace, the "Royal Villa" of Ludwig II of Bavaria (1845–1886), originated as a hunting lodge belonging to his father Maximilian II - the "Königshäuschen". This building is the only palace King Ludwig II was able to complete in 1878.

Nowadays, together with Neuschwanstein, one of the biggest highlights of Bavaria. The castle attracts each year more than 500,000 visitors. And the reason why is easy to guess. The castle is surrounded by many mountains with a great views over the area. The gardens which are part of the palace are one of a kind and makes you feel like a member of the royal family. 


Linderhof is a popular castle and therefore it is recommended to make your reservation in advance. When you visit the castle you will participate (obligatory) to an English guided tour.


How does it work?

Your visit will consist out of 2 parts. A tour outside the palace (30 minutes) and a tour inside the palace (25 minutes). It is only possible to visit Linderhof with a guide, this is obligatory. 

The tour outside a guide will take you around the castle (Gardens, Moroccan House and the Köningshäuschen) and will tell you all about Ludwig and the construction of the palace. Afterwards you follow the guided tour in the castle the guide will focus more on the rooms itself.

What is important to know?

The groups have a capacity between 15 and 25 people. The entrance at the Linderhof without online reservation is 8,50 euro (7,50 euro in the winter) and excludes the Information Brochure and the guided tour outside. If you want to go to the palace directly, without online reservation, please be aware to take your time because the guided tours inside the palace can be booked so you need to wait.
